GOATS

Goats

Goats were introduced to Australia by European settlers in the late 18th century. The first goats were introduced to provide a source of meat, milk and fibre. Goats are a hardy species that quickly adapted to the Australian environment.

The Rare Breeds Trust of Australia recogises three rare breed of goats.
