History
From Townsville Daily Bulletin Thursday 26 October 1939 Source https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/62833342?searchTerm=romsdown "Mr. Keith Headlam, of Burlington Estate, Cressy, conceived tbe Idea of developing the Romsdown by crossIng Southdown rams with Romney Marsh ewes. By breeding on and culling heavily, he flxed the type, In which he has gained the good qualities of both the Southdown and the Romney. The progeny are higher on the leg than the Southdown, but of the same blocky build with excellent hams. They have the Romney hardiness and the lambs, though they mature early, will stand a check. The ewes are prolific and good mothers, while the breed also produces a good type of wool of about a 58' count. Mr. Headlam has 290 ewes In his Romsdown stud and Is endeavoring to have the breed registered."
