I was born in the South Island of New Zealand and my interest in rare breeds began in the early 1970s, I was about 8 years old when my parents purchased a Japanese Chin Puppy, a quite rare breed of dog.

I showed the dog for many years at agricultural shows and thus began my interest in traditional breeds of livestock, there were plenty of breeds for a young girl to fall in love with at the shows back then, some of which would be classified as rare today and some that no longer in exist in New Zealand or Australia today.

I have had purebred poultry since I moved to Australia in 1986, mostly the rarer breeds including Polish and White Langshans. Since the 1990’s I have bred Large Black Pigs, Ayrshire Cows and Southdown Sheep. I added Shorthorn cattle to the farm about 3 years ago.

I am very passionate about preserving traditional breeds of livestock and keeping their original traits – not trying to modernize them.
